Neville Sinclair moves past the Gestapo agent in the control room of the zeppelin.
Jenny glares at the agent.
Meanwhile, on the hillside below the Griffith Park Observatory, Cliff spots a pistol in the holster of an unconscious storm trooper. Secord removes the pistol and climbs up the hill.
Woolly crouches down next to the Astronomers’ Memorial, while Eddie Valentine stands and fires a machine gun at the retreating storm troopers. Wooly joins in the shooting. Both Eddie and Wooly pause for a moment and look at each other. Eddie smiles, then resumes his firing.
Cliff reaches the top of the hill and scans the area. Police officers and FBI agents are tending to the wounded, but nobody looks at Secord. Cliff notices the zeppelin has turned east and is leaving the Griffith Park area. He spots his helmet on the lawn, and retrieves it. Cliff runs up the stairs marked “To Telescope,” donning his helmet halfway to the roof.
Fitch and Wooly watch the receding zeppelin.
“Aw, we’re losin’ em!” says Fitch. Spotlights shine on the underside of the zeppelin.
The Rocketeer climbs onto a parapet of the observatory. An American flag waves behind him.
“Maybe not,” says Wooly. “Look!” Wooly points to the observatory roof.
The Rocketeer checks his pistol as he stands next to the flag. A searchlight catches him as he stands in profile.
“Look! Up on the dome!” yells someone below. “It’s him!”
“It’s the Rocketeer!” yells someone else. Eddie Valentine looks at The Rocketeer.
The Rocketeer puts his pistol in his pocket, looks skyward, and ignites his rocket pack. There’s a gout of flame on the rooftop as The Rocketeer soars into the night sky. He rolls left and aims toward the zeppelin.
“Go-” begins Eddie Valentine.
