Eddie is giving instructions where Cliff should meet them with the rocket, if he ever wants to see Jenny again: 4 AM, Griffith Observatory.
“By the statues,” finishes Valentine. “And come alone, or we’re going to have to kill the girl.” Eddie hangs up the phone. Clifford considers his options.
Meanwhile, at Neville’s house, Sinclair watches Jenny being taken away by Eddie’s henchmen.
Back at the Bulldog Cafe, Cliff hangs up the phone.
“Cliff, what’s happening?” asks Patsy. “What are they doing to Jenny?”
“Quiet, Patsy!” shouts Cliff. “I gotta think!” He looks at Patsy. Patsy looks alarmed. Cliff kneels down next to Patsy. “Patsy, I’m sorry,” he says. “I didn’t mean to yell at you.” “She nods slightly.
“Look,” says Cliff, “Remember the guy who saved Malcolm today?”
“The Rocketeer?” asks Patsy.
“Yeah,” says Cliff, “Well, he’s gonna help me find Jenny.” Just then, two men waving guns rush into the cafe through the front door.
“Freeze!” yells one of them. “FBI!”
From the back door, Fitch and Wooly enter, guns drawn. Fitch cocks the hammer of his revolver. He laughs. “Remember me?” says Fitch. Cliff stares back at Fitch.
Meanwhile, at Hughes Aircraft, Peevy is explaining his reworked design of the X-3 to Howard Hughes.
“All I did was bypass the pressure valve,” says Peevy, “and that solved your throttle problem.”
“But adding a rudder to the helmet,” says Hughes, “that was ingenious!”
“Oh,” replies Peevy, “Nothing to it, Howard – – just basic aviation.”
