Minute 063: South Seas

Guest Host: Tom Gire

Tom Gire is one of the principals of Brand X Music, a major music composition house for feature and film trailer soundtracks.  He’s composed and arranged music from films as varied as Pirates of the Caribbean 2 to Transformers: Dark of the Moon. If you’ve seen a movie trailer for a major action feature film, Tom probably put the music you’re enjoying in it. Oh, and he’s also the fellow who created our amazing opening / closing themes!

Summary

Dinner patrons at the South Seas Club continue to watch Jenny and Neville as they dance across the ballroom without music.

Meanwhile, in an alley across the street from the South Seas Club, the Rocketeer lands unnoticed.  Cliff removes his helmet and looks around.

Jenny and Neville continue their silent dance.

Cliff, carrying the Cirrus X-3 and his helmet in a duffel bag, crosses the street towards the South Seas Club, its entrance topped by a large neon sign.

Meanwhile, Neville raises Jenny’s arms over his head and places them around his neck.

“One day, Jenny,” says Neville, “a man will look into those eyes and he’ll drown — and never be saved.” Jenny’s lips come within an inch of Neville’s as the band strikes up “In a Sentimental Mood.” They continue to dance. Neville swoops Jenny nearly to the floor as she leans back. The ballroom quickly fills with other dancers.

Meanwhile, Cliff punches a hole in a service room window of the South Seas Club. He unlatches the window and climbs through.
