Minute 060: Mister Ketchup Bottle

Best known for his television roles as Rick Sammler on Once and Again, as Det. Joey Indelli on Crime Story, as Jordan Collier on The 4400, and as Dr. Jon Fielding on the Tales of the City miniseries. He is also known for his recurring role as Luke Fuller in Dynasty which was his first prominent role. His most notable films include Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Enough. He portrayed Darren Richmond on the AMC television series The Killing, and played Dr. Alan Farragut in the SyFy series Helix.

And he was the title character in a little film called The Rocketeer.

Guest Host: James O’Kane

James is an industrial design engineer living in Portland, Oregon with his wife and two daughters. He claims to be the son of one of the co-hosts of the show, although Hal has hired an army of attorneys to refute the paternity. James grew up watching The Rocketeer almost weekly, and says that the film has shaped his frequent-flying career in seeking out animal-shaped diners on the outskirts of airfields.

Summary

Spanish Johnny leaves Jeff and Mike in the Bull Dog Cafe to keep an eye on Cliff, Peevy, Goose, Skeets, and Millie.

“Alright everybody,” says Jeff, “Relax and take it easy. We’re gonna be here a while. Hey Mom – how about a fresh pot of coffee?” He tells Millie. Jeff scans the walls of the Bull Dog, looking at old pictures. He notices an old picture of Peevy standing next to a biplane. “Swell outfit, Dad!” he says to Peevy. Mike chews on a sandwich.

Skeets glances at Cliff. Cliff signals for Skeets to cover Jeff by pointing with his eyes. Skeets nods. Goose does the same.

“Hey!” says Jeff, continuing to look at the pictures on the wall. “It’s Mister Ketchup Bottle!” He looks at another picture of Cliff with a beautiful brunette.

“Say,” says Jeff, “that’s quite a dish you’ve got there!” Mike continues to chew on his sandwich.

Jeff suddenly realizes the brunette in the picture is Jenny, which means… “Hey, wait a minute! That’s Lady Luck!” says Jeff. He turns around, just in time to meet Clifford’s fist. POW!

“Get the gun!” yells Skeets, as he and Goose grapple with Mike. Cliff plants another haymaker on Jeff, while Peevy climbs over the counter to wrestle with Mike’s grip on the pistol. The gun goes off, punching a neat hole in the ceiling. Cliff follows through with a right hook, knocking out Jeff into a corner booth.

Millie reaches into the crowd of airmen and brains Mike with a frying pan. Cliff heads for the attic ladder.

“Millie,” says Cliff, “I’m sorry about all this. I’ll fix everything. I promise!” He climbs the ladder.

“Clifford!” yells Peevy after him. “What’s the deal?” Peevy climbs the ladder too. “Nuts!” says Peevy.

Peevy reaches the attic, and sees Secord putting on the Rocketeer gear. “Cliff, no!” says Peevy. “Not again!”

“Peevy, -” says Cliff.
