Minute 022: A Sweet Little Headache

Best known for his television roles as Rick Sammler on Once and Again, as Det. Joey Indelli on Crime Story, as Jordan Collier on The 4400, and as Dr. Jon Fielding on the Tales of the City miniseries. He is also known for his recurring role as Luke Fuller in Dynasty which was his first prominent role. His most notable films include Bram Stoker’s Dracula and Enough. He portrayed Darren Richmond on the AMC television series The Killing, and played Dr. Alan Farragut in the SyFy series Helix.

And he was the title character in a little film called The Rocketeer.

Summary

Cliff is examining the demolished head of the Lindy statue. He says, “I think we’re gonna need a helmet!”

Meanwhile, at Mrs. Pye’s Boarding House, meet Jenny Blake. Jenny is putting on stocking as she gets ready for her date. A record plays on a Victrola: “You’re a Sweet Little Headache,” sung by Helen Forrest.  Outside, a horn honks.

Jenny looks up at her roommate, Irma. “Who’s is it?” asks Jenny.
Irma looks out the window. “Yours,” replies Irma, disappointed. Irma waves out the window at Cliff, who waves back.

Jenny kisses one of her own fingers and then presses it against a photo of Cliff that’s tucked into her vanity mirror.

Cliff walks up to the front door of the boarding house, takes a piece of gum out of his mouth, and sticks it on the lentil of the door. As he opens the front door, he’s blocked by Mrs. Pye.

“Good Evening, Mrs. Pye!” says Cliff, with a trace of sarcasm.

“You know my rules!” replies Mrs. Pye. “No gentlemen after six PM!”

“Well, I’m no gentleman,” says Cliff.

“You can say that again!” replies Mrs. Pye. She turns, and smiles sweetly at Jenny.

“Hello,” says Jenny to Cliff. They kiss.

“Hi,” says Cliff.

“Goodnight, Miss Pye,” says Jenny.

“Have a good time, dear,” replies Mrs. Pye. “If he tries anything, deck him! Don’t forget the curfew! I lock up at eleven, sharp!”

“Yes, Warden,” says Cliff. Mrs, Pye frowns as she closes the door.

As they descend the front steps from the boarding house, Jenny turns to Cliff.

“Cliff, guess what?” says Jenny. “I think I got the part!”

“That’s great!” says Cliff.

“I won’t know for sure ’til tomorrow,” says Jenny, “but the director-”
