What's right, when it's easy. Kill the monster when it's a baby, before it grows to destroy everything.
I was watching Wayne Dyer interviewing Abraham Hicks and they were telling an interesting story that got me thinking about this concept. Esther was in San Francisco when she finally vocalized "why on earth would anyone want to drive, park or live on these massive hills?!" If you don't already know, San Francisco is known for its massive hills where building and roads have been inconveniently built.
Abraham made a lovely analogy for procrastination. Imagine for a moment there was a car parked at the top of one of these big hills, and it started to roll very slowly downhill. Which scenario seems more pleasant. Stepping behind this car right away when it doesn't take much to stop it from rolling? Or running to the bottom of the hill and stepping in front of this massive car that is dashing down this hill, bashing up against other cars, nearly killing people? You would stop it when it is most convenient to do so.
This resonated with me deeply because I was putting things off and indulging in negative habits and thought patterns without any clue that down the line this could be very destructive for myself and even others. So if you are struggling with procrastination, putting things off, or you know what change you need to make in your life but you are just not changing. Take a step back and look at the bigger picture, what will your life be like if you continue down this path for a year? Two years? 5 years? 10 years? It may seem like it will never happen, but before you know it, it has been 5 years and you have so many regrets tied to this issue. Whatever it is for you. Try not to fixate on the future, but just know that what you're doing now, will affect your future moments, moments that you will have to live through.
