As the former Chief Medical Officer of Scotland, Sir Harry Burns has drawn global attention to the social determinants of health, and focuses his work on citizen empowerment and "salutogenesis." Dr Ruth Hussey OBE was until recently the Chief Medical Officer for the Welsh Government Assembly, and has pushed for a local approach to delivering “prudent health care.” They were invited to Australia in 2016 by the New South Wales Government; this episode of Pomegranate features a special lecture presented at the RACP during their trip.
