The Therapy for Black Girls Podcast is a weekly conversation with Dr. Joy Harden Bradford, a Licensed Psychologist in Atlanta, Georgia, about all things mental health, personal development, and all the small decisions we can make to become the best possible version of ourselves.
In today’s episode, we’re chatting about developing a partnership with your primary care physician (PCP) for better health outcomes. For this conversation I was joined by Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician Dr. Magdala Chery. Dr. Chery and I discussed how primary care physicians are involved in screening for mental health concerns, how they collaborate and refer to mental health professionals, how you can better advocate for yourself with physicians, and she shared her thoughts on what PCPs need to do to ensure better health outcomes for Black women.
