A number of states in the U.S. will require 100% carbon free electricity. Going down the list:
• New Mexico
• Hawaii
• Minnesota
• Wisconsin
• Illinois
• New Jersey
• California
How is that possible? How are we going to run our lives and our economy without fossil fuels? Well to the naysayers, I point out that 14% of California’s power came from solar. California is the 5th biggest economy in the world. So with renewables being the biggest source of power, if we can do it the rest of the world can do it but its going to change the way we use energy in our homes. No natural gas for heat, domestic hot water or cooking. How do we convert to an all-electric home and convert affordably?
Well there is no substitute for experience when it comes to making decisions and changing our electricity use so I’m honored to have my friend Howard Wenger join us this week. Howard started his career at AstroPower, a pioneering solar module manufacturer. Then he was Executive Vice President of PowerLight, then became President and CEO of SunPower Systems. Howard is also a CALSSA Board member. He’s behind a lot of the work in pioneering the solar industry, and he is also a pioneer in electrifying his house.
To learn about the fantastic opportunity that whole house electrification has to offer and get insight on how Howard converted his home to all-electric, listen to this week’s Energy Show.
