Hello, Lovelies! Tiffany has an incredible story for you this week. After being told that his medical exams could wait and that the war effort needed him, Eugene Lazowski was promoted to Second Lieutenant and became a military doctor for Poland during World War II. After narrowly avoiding death many, many times, he reunited and married his long lost love, Murka Tolwinska, after Poland had surrendered. He quickly took it upon himself to help his fellow countrymen and the country he loves, a fact that eventually led him to joining The Resistance. After having a run-in with the Gestapo, he loosened a few boards in his backyard fence with the idea that it would serve as an escape route if needed. Instead, it opened up a portal to the Rozwadów Ghetto, allowing the Jewish who lived there to receive medical treatment from Lazowski. Part of Lazowski's job involved sending lab results to a German lab, a process that sometimes took weeks. Eventually, he hatched a plan with Stasiek Matulewicz that cleverly faked lab results to show a typhus outbreak. (And it's any reason we gave Eugene the Glen Coco award this episode?) Join us as Ashley and Rebecca learn about this incredible doctor and all he did for his community and country, all to annoy those pesky Germans
