In 19th century San Francisco, Joshua Norton was a wealthy businessman. But he lost it all rice deal gone wrong... He fell off the map for a few years and when he reemerged he was describing himself as The Emperor of The United States. And people just went with it. He started dressing the part and even issuing royal decrees and his city fully embraced him. This is the story of the eccentric Norton I, the first and so far only Emperor of The United States.
