As scary as it sounds, there are a number of health conditions that disproportionately affect Black women: heart disease, stroke, diabetes, breast cancer, cervical cancer, fibroids, premature delivery, sickle cell disease, sexually transmitted diseases, and mental health issues! To combat these disparities, advocates say health care professionals must explicitly acknowledge that race and racism factor into health care. IT’S TIME FOR A CHECK-UP LADIES and we’re going to see the doctor this Thursday May 23rd at 9pm on HOUSE TALK w/Dr. Lauren D. Pitts. We want to hear from you – so call us live during the show with your comments and questions (515) 605-9744!
