On the 3rd October 1922, Percy and Edith Thompson were on their way home from the theatre and had just arrived in Ilford, East London, close to where they lived. A man appeared out of the bushes and began to attack Percy while Edith looked on horrified.
This attack initially looked like a random attack however it would soon come to light that the attacker wasn't a stranger after all. The crime would become a national sensation and cause the public to reevaluate what they thought they knew about justice.
