According to the World Health Organization, 1 out of every 4 couples struggle with infertility. Yet, the topic of infertility is something that very few of us choose to talk about openly. Melissa and her husband, like most young married couples, decided they would start having babies after they had been married for a couple of years. When they were ready to try to start their family, a blood test revealed that getting pregnant might not be a possibility due to a condition with her eggs. Having never experienced infertility in her family, she was completely caught off guard by the prospect of struggling to get pregnant. They tried getting pregnant for an entire year, before beginning the journey of IUI, IVF, and even engaging an egg donor. During this timeframe, most of Melissa's friends were getting pregnant with their first and then their second, making her feel even more isolated, like something was wrong. In this podcast, Melissa shares her infertility journey and the heartbreak that comes along with it, with such vulnerability and strength. This story is so inspiring for anyone who may also be experiencing infertility or knows someone who is on this path.
