Today's guest is Julie Fotheringham, a psychoanalyst, dancer and performance artist in NYC. As a psychoanalyst, always ever in formation, she has a particularly Lacanian orientation, continuing her studies with the Lacanian Compass and the activities of Das Unbehagen. She is also on the editorial board of The Candidate Journal. "My main influences include the seminars of Jacques Lacan, the writings of Freud, art in all of its forms, my patients, and of course my own psychoanalyst. At present, my performance practice comprises mostly solo movement improvisations interrogating the link between psychoanalysis and the body. Speaking and being. Speaking-being. Parlêtre."
Julie Fotheringham contributed writing to the upcoming book Rendering Unconscious (Trapart 2019).
Rendering Unconscious Podcast is hosted by psychoanalyst Dr. Vanessa Sinclair, who interviews psychoanalysts, psychologists, scholars, creative arts therapists, writers, poets, philosophers, artists & other intellectuals about their process, work, world events, the current state of mental health care, politics, culture, the arts & more.
