Episode Breakdown: Episode 20: Honeymoon Q&A Special with Nadia El Ferdaoussi
Wedding tip: This week, Celina suggests creating an elevator pitch for your wedding, AKA two or three keywords to describe your day, which you can reference when stumped on decisions and use with your suppliers. Something like "wild and whimsical", "chic and sophisticated", or "simple and laid-back" works a treat.
Main topic: We honestly struggle to think of anyone who is better-travelled than writer Nadia El Ferdaoussi AKA The Daily S'Elf, which is precisely why we invited her on the show to discuss all things honeymoon! We put Nadia to work on reader and listener questions, as well as grilling her on her all-time favourite destinations. Nadia made a very convincing case for honeymooning in Europe and returning to a beloved destination for your post-wedding getaway, so we know her advice will be hugely helpful!
Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “I’m having a real problem with my other half’s family when it comes to our wedding and planning it. From the start, they made it clear that they weren’t happy with our venue (we’re getting married in a restaurant) and even threatened to not stay at the nearby hotel with us that night (which made him really upset). It seems like every choice we make for our day (having both my parents walk me down the aisle, spending money on a good photographer, even the types of dresses I like!) comes with the response, 'That’s not how it’s usually done.' How do I get through the next year without completely pulling my hair out? The last time we visited them, I left in tears because I just feel like they’re seeing our day as just one big party we’re meant to organise for them, even though we as a couple see it as a day to celebrate our relationship. Have either of you ever experienced this before?" Our advice for this listener involves limiting wedding-related chat around their future in-laws, and showing them examples of similar weddings.
Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: This week, Celina introduces her current favourite way to pass the time, taking a peek inside the shopping habits of the stars with a scroll through some of New York magazine's highly addictive Celebrity Shopping Features.
