Resting in Mount Fuji's shadow is the Aokigahara Forest, the world's second most popular suicide location. Called “the perfect place to die,” the Aokigahara forest in Japan has the unfortunate distinction of being the world’s second most popular place to die by suicide. Since the 1950s, Japanese men, women and teenagers have wandered in, and so many of them haven’t come out that the Japanese government has stopped releasing the data. Second in suicides behind only the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, the Aokigahara Forest is a beautiful but deadly place that is said to be haunted with demons and the tortured souls of those who have taken their lives there.
