Earning Their Stripes: Isan Díaz Has Nothing Left to Prove
ETS is back to react to Sunday's All-Star Futures Game in Cleveland (1:50). The Marlins earned three selections: right-hander Sixto Sánchez, second baseman Isan Díaz and outfielder Monte Harrison (sidelined with wrist injury). Ethan makes the compelling case that Díaz is ready for a big league call-up now (11:30). The 2019-20 international signing period opened last Tuesday (21:15) with the Fish scooping up 11 amateur players from a handful of countries. More recent standouts in this farm system include outfielder Milton Smith II, left-hander Trevor Rogers and unhittable rookie Jordan Yamamoto (34:45).
Ian selects Chris Vallimont (45:40) and Eddy Alvarez (46:30) for his pitcher and hitter of the week awards. Shortstop Nasim Nuñez and outfielder Víctor Mesa Jr. are quickly developing great chemistry with one another in the Gulf Coast League (49:00), while speedy Wright State product J.D. Orr could be the biggest steal of the Marlins draft class (54:00).
