Notes From The Mindful Inner Journey
Society & Culture:Personal Journals
Jeff reflects about a very powerful example of effective coping that he experienced recently. He explains how what he witnessed taught him that sometimes, when things are extraordinarily difficult, we have to resort to stronger ways of coping and how it takes practice in order to "weather the storm" without self-destructing emotionally. He revisits how mindfulness practice can prepare us to more effectively deal with challenging situations and how being more aware of what is happening in our minds and our habitual reactions to what is going on around us and how it helps us to be able to have the energy and strength to cope in a different way when that is what's needed in order to keep living life. He wraps it up by explaining that the most effective thing we can do in any given situation is to cope and how we see so many examples in nature of this type of behavior.
