Ep. 39 - Old Guys Rule - Matt & Pete from Oz Brews News

For this episode, I wanted to turn the focus on to a couple of blokes who have been an integral part of the Australian beer scene for the better part of two decades. Each week, Matt Kirkegaard and Pete Mitcham pump out content via various different channels, updating the Australian beer world on the latest news. They are well known within in the industry, but always asking the questions of their guests, so I thought it would be fun to flip things around and put them on the other side of the conversation and find out more about their experiences in the beer world.

This chat really covers some ground…hence the 90 minute running time!

We take a look back at how it all started for the boys, what they have seen change over the years, their proudest moments in their careers and the sacrifices they have made, literally for the love of this liquid we call beer.

There is a lot of laughs, some old man speak (“Lets not over egg that pudding?”), and a bit of patting each other on the back…Matt struggles to be the guest at the start, looking to drive the conversation until I pull him into line!! We lose Prof for a while as Matt deep dives into a few memories and then he pops back up to add the cream to Matt’s answer.

A thoroughly enjoyable chat that could have gone a lot longer…I did try to wind it up around 60 minutes and it went for 30 more!
