On this episode we speak to Emmy Nominated and Award winning Film, Commercial & Music Video Director / Producer / Editor Ian McFarland. Having started his career as a professionally touring musician and then a film editor, Ian brings a particular understanding of structure, music, pacing and emotion to his projects. He started touring the world in bands at an early age, performing at a wide range of venues: from punk rock parties in backyards and living rooms to major European Open Air Festivals. In the past 10 years he has directed numerous music videos for Grammy-nominated international acts, created Emmy-nominated and award-winning films aired on VICE, ESPN, MTV & LOGO. He has also worked with top brands, ranging from BOSE and Fidelity to The Boston Celtics and Bank of America.
Ian discusses he latest new feature length documentary, “The Godfathers of Hardcore”, which is an intimate portrait of two of the most influential men in underground music, Roger Miret and Vinnie Stigma of the iconic New York hardcore punk rock band Agnostic Front. The film has been on the festival circuit since November 2017 where is premiered at the DOCNYC 2017 Film Festival. Since then it has gathered momentum screening and winning awards at multiple well known film festivals as well as receiving press / reviews from major publications like Rolling Stone and UPROXX.
