The season opener is here. You know what that means? No more break downs, talking heads, scrimmages, offseason practice reports or projections. It's finally time to sees an actual football game played this weekend and the Family Feud dynamic duo of Keely Eure and Shotgun could not be more excited to take it in from the sidelines of the L.A. Coliseum on Saturday night.
But Family Feud Podcast makes a one-episode adoption of fellow USCFootball.com writer Chris Trevino, the podcast's first official guest. Chris drops by to share several of his bold predictions for the season in an exclusive world premier. Since it's been two weeks since the last episode of the Feud, the trio had a lot to catch up on, including the new closed practice policy, injuries, the shakeup to the QB depth chart and, of course, the Fresno State Bulldogs.
In the return of the Stock Up/Stock Down segment, Keely, Shotgun and Chris take turns praising the quickly-progressing offense with Shotgun focusing on the offensive synchronicity. They also remain high on some early-enrollee freshmen that have already been able to make a quick impression despite only being on campus for a couple of months. While Shotgun also highlights some players that have made positive gains as they return from injury, Keely admits that the new coaching staff members have been better than she anticipated from Harrell's offense to the fiery ways of running backs coach Mike Jinks and the hands-on approach of defensive backs coach Greg Burns. As they discuss the coaching staff, the USCfootball.com duo note that USC's coaches have been actively attacking some of the issues the Trojans consistently had last season. Of course, Keely once again fails to try to incorporate a Stock Neutral as Shotgun shoot it down with cries of Stock Unchanged.
In Heard it on the Sidelines, Keely, Shotgun and Chris drop some tidbits from the last two weeks of August practices. What did redshirt freshman kicker Chase McGrath say about his recovery from an ACL tear? Hear what linebacker coach Johnny Nansen and sophomore Palaie Gaoteote had to say about the MIKE and WILL spots. Then in the special Agree/Disagree segment, Keely and Shotgun react to five of Chris' 10 bold predictions for the season. Those predictions feature freshman defensive end Drake Jackson, sophomore Gaoteote and sophomore wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.
