Dr. Bruce Perkins from the University of Toronto and Mount Sinai Hospital studies the complications of diabetes and ways to improve treatment for those living with type 1 diabetes. At the 2019 Diabetes Canada Professional Conference, taking place this October in Winnipeg, he’ll be delivering a plenary address on his work in adjunctive therapies for type 1 diabetes. This talk will focus on the use of Sodium Glucose Transport Inhibitors (SGLTis) in the treatment of T1D. These drugs have been transformative in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and Dr. Perkins is one of many of the leading voices in studying their use in type 1 diabetes.
