In the latest of what should hopefully become our regular movie roundups, Jack and Yair first get a couple of non-cinematic topics out of the way: the death of Robert Mugabe, and the shitty reactions from right-wing western idiots, plus left Twitter's ongoing Britpop wars, and what it means to be an author in 2019 when even Stephen King isn't deemed to have sufficient name recognition to get on a poster.
Finally, we get to the films: Yair reviews Spanish Holocaust drama The Photographer of Mauthausen, and Jack runs through a bunch of stuff he's watched recently: Sidney Lumet's cop drama Q&A, John Singleton's brotherly revenge saga Four Brothers and - finally - Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, drawing parallels between the latter film and the new Bruce Springsteen album, Western Stars.
We also trail a couple of forthcoming RP episodes - Yair and Jack plan to do an episode on Fight Club, which is alluded to in here, and we spend a little bit bigging up our next guest, writer and New Socialist culture editor Rhian E. Jones, who will be appearing on the show in the coming week!
