On the 12th September 1907, Bertram Shaw returned home to find his mother waiting on his doorstep at St Pauls Road in Camden Town, London. She told him she couldn't get in and his common law wife Emily wasn't answering the door. Bertram forced the door open and when inside he found a horrible scene. Emily was in their bed and she had been murdered. An investigation ensued and a trial would happen in Emily Dimmock's case. Edward Marshall Hall or as he was known The Great Defender was part of the trial and it was certainly a sensational one.
