On the 14th September 1954, 21 year old Jean Townsend was walking home from South Ruislip train station in Greater London. She was returning home from an evening out with her friends. She did not make it home. The next morning her body was found a piece of wasteland only a few streets away from the station. An investigation into her murder would uncover a number of other worrying incident in what was later described as Ruislip's murder mile.
