Geektown Radio 222: 'Carnival Row' Composer Nathan Barr, TV News, Film News & UK Air Dates!, TV News, Film News & UK Air Dates!
This week's Geektown Radio podcast sees Matt from Entertainment Talk join me to chat through the usual weekly tv, film and gaming news, plus a look at the next week on tv. We also have an exclusive interview with the brilliant composer Nathan Barr, who has most recently been working on fantasy Amazon series 'Carnival Row'.
'Carnival Row' is set in a Victorian fantasy world filled with mythological immigrant creatures whose exotic homelands were invaded by the empires of man. This growing population struggles to coexist with humans – forbidden to live, love, or fly with freedom. But even in darkness, hope lives, as a human detective, Rycroft Philostrate (Orlando Bloom – ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’), and a refugee faerie named Vignette Stonemoss (Cara Delevingne ‘Suicide Squad’) rekindle a dangerous affair despite an increasingly intolerant society. Vignette harbours a secret that endangers Philo’s world during his most important case yet: a string of gruesome murders threatening the uneasy peace of the Row.
Two-time Emmy-nominated composer Nathan Barr has received critical acclaim for his unmatched versatility, incorporating eclectic instruments from musical cultures across the world. Alongside 'Carnival Row', Nathan scored the hit Amblin Entertainment/Universal Pictures family-horror film 'The House with a Clock' in its Walls, directed by Eli Roth and starring Jack Black and Cate Blanchett. this year also saw score the soundtrack for Emmy-winning biographical miniseries 'Fosse/Verdon'. Nathan's previous work includes brilliant Amazon series 'Sneaky Pete', the multi-award-winning drama 'The Americans', and the fangtastic vampire drama 'True Blood'.
