Finding Proof with Dr Tess Crawley
Business
I had a fabulous chat with one of my mentor clients this morning about their decision to take a slower approach to building their business, in the meantime adding more strings to their bow through other means.
We talked about the fear that this meant failing in their business endeavors. We talked about the fear that their business might falter. And then we talked about alignment.
If you decide to do something different to what you’d planned - and it’s aligned to your big-picture vision - it’s not a failure, it’s a new goal If you decide to slow things down - and it’s aligned to your big-picture vision - it’s not a failure, it’s a change in pace If you decide to take time to consolidate new learning and seek more of the same - and it’s aligned to your big-picture vision - it’s not a failure, it’s a sign of wisdom.
Just because your goals have changed, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed, it means you’ve incorporated new information into your thinking and have shifted your goals accordingly.
This is where consistently revisiting of your big-picture view is important. This is why adding CEO Time (strategic thinking time) to your diary is important. This is why having support in your business owning journey is important.
If you are clear on your big-picture goals, and how you aim to get there, you will be better able to see whether or not the decisions you make today are strategically aligned to that vision.
And if they aren’t, then it is absolutely time to call yourself out on fear and scarcity if that’s what’s driving you.
Take some time today to revisit your big-picture goals. Sit in the sun with a cup of tea and think about where you’re heading, how you’re going to get there, and whether or not your recent decisions are aligned with that vision.
As long as you’re still moving forward towards your longer-term destination, a detour isn’t failure. It’s just a detour.
Don’t be too hard on yourself.
Much love, Tess. x
