How to Make *Any* Kind of Wedding Ceremony Special
In episode 34 of The One Fab Day Wedding Podcast, we're on a mission to help you create a meaningful and highly personal ceremony, the kind that will make your guests laugh, cry, and maybe even break into song! Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, particularly if you're having a religious or civil ceremony (although, it's worth pointing out that secular and symbolic ceremonies have restrictions, too!). This week, we wanted to offer up our favourite unique wedding ceremony ideas for all couples, whether you're getting hitched in a catholic church, a registry office or on the side of a cliff! If we may toot our own horns for a moment, we think this is a super helpful episode, and we hope you walk away from it with lots of inspiration for your own big day!
Episode Breakdown: How to Make *Any* Kind of Wedding Ceremony Special
Wedding tip: Claire's tip this week is for grooms; make a fun plan for the morning of the wedding, or you might find yourself at a loose end for four and a half hours, while other wedding party members are getting hair and makeup done!
Main topic: Today's episode is all about ways to personalise your wedding ceremony, be it religious, civil, secular or purely symbolic. For secular and symbolic ceremonies, we're able to offer up lots of unique wedding ceremony ideas across readings, music, and rituals, while couples are more restricted in religious and civil ceremonies. That said, we've included lots of tips in this episode on how to speak to your officiant in advance of your ceremony, as well as ideas for how to personalise this part of your day when restrictions are extremely strict, and you only have a small amount of wiggle room!
Wedding dilemma: A listener writes, “What are your thoughts on putting where you are registered on the wedding invitation? My worry is that it’s a bit rude. But my other worry is that I already have two cutlery sets and the risk of adding to that is very high!” On the whole, we don't think it's presumptuous to put the details of your wedding registry on the invitation. But, of course, we're offering a few tips for subtle ways to point your guests in the right direction!
Something to do when you're not planning your wedding: In this episode, Claire talks about the joys of making jam... because who doesn't love jam!?
