Today's podcast features a March 1996 talk by Terence McKenna during which he was wrapping up a weekend workshop. He begins by telling of one of his early LSD trips, which was significantly different from any other LSD experience he had ever had. He also talks about his view that the visual part of a DMT experience carries meaning, but that this meaning cannot be translated into English. One of the more fun topics he takes on is to speculate about what the world would be like if our machines become so smart that they took over control of the world. Ultimately, he can't decide if this would be a utopia or a dystopia. He also compares psychedelic drug design with nanotechnology. One of my favorite quotes from this talk is: "Virtual reality is a place where the creativity, the staggering creativity, of psychedelics can actually find a home."
