Today's podcast features a 1980 talk by Dr. Timothy Leary, who by that time had not only survived the wrath of the entire U.S. government, he was thriving. Even luminaries such as Robert Anton Wilson showed up in his audiences. While today, the name of Terence McKenna is more widely known among members of the world wide psychedelic community, it was Timothy Leary who even captured the imaginations of U.S. presidents, such as Richard Nixon, who declared Leary to be “the most dangerous man in America.” In this talk you will hear the Leary at his best, laughing and enjoying himself. A few of my favorite quotes from this talk are:
“The smarter you are, the higher you want to be.”
“The key to the Sixties, as we see it now, was a period of self-discovery, of self-indulgence, and the refusal to accept the adult hive's over-specialized models.”
“Show me a taboo, and I'm interested in it.”
