Today we feature a talk given by Terence McKenna in June of 1984, which contains several kernels of thought that he developed more fully later in his career. One of his more interesting throw-away lines is that perhaps we should think of possible aliens in a way similar to how teenage boys think about the girl next door. Another interesting thought he discusses: “The world is not nearly as chaotic and random as we suppose. We are actually trapped inside a giant organism. And it is not Gaia. That's a much larger organism. We are trapped inside a large organism which is the human collectivity, and that's why we are such different monkeys.”
