Voices from the Square, Part 33 with Elia Haber for The Beirut Banyan, bringing conversations directly from Martyrs Square.
Elia follows up on Part 6 by speaking with Selim Mawad, recapping the revolt now in its 62nd day.
Selim reflects on his earlier statements at the start of the uprising, the political progress made by protestors, and the reluctance of the governing class to cede more authority. He shares his thoughts on expectations from a transitional government, and actions that should be taken by protestors if basic expectations are not met.
Selim is a painter and human rights activist.
