Here's the full question we're answering:
"I have always strived to focus only on what I can control and let everything else go, however, I’ve been struggling to decide where the line between 'focusing on my circle of influence' and 'accepting defeat too easily' lies.
For example, recently my wife and I had our connecting flight canceled and we were looking at having to spend the night at the airport.
I have always embraced stoic philosophy and was ready to 'accept what I couldn’t control' and focus on making the best of the situation...
My wife, however, was unwilling to accept this situation, and as a result had a lengthy negotiation with the customer service rep to get us home tonight, via a couple of connections.
Had she also been thinking stoically and focused on accepting our situation, we would have ended up trapped in the airport overnight…
How do you ensure that striving to accept what you can’t control doesn’t lead you to accept defeat too quickly?"
