Starting January 17th and running through February 9th, the Lunar New Year celebration returns to Disney California Adventure. This year is a rather special one as it is the year of the mouse! Mulan’s New Years Processional returns, plenty of Disney characters will be in costume for meet and greets, a World of Color pre-show called “Hurry Home – Lunar New Year Celebration”, and more. Annual Passholders now have a place to call their own at Disney California Adventure. The Alfresco Tasting Terrace is now AP only and will serve 5 new signature cocktails for guests to enjoy. Some new details have come out about the new Disney Vacation Club tower coming to the Disneyland Hotel. The original news was that an 11 story tower was coming, but the permits from the city of Anaheim show that the tower will only have 7 stories and include 393 residential units, a restaurant, lobby, sales area, and a deck area with a pool restroom building. A new monthly collectible series is coming to the parks and ShopDisney.com. Minnie Mouse is the star of this series, titled Minnie Mouse The Main Attraction, and will feature a different attraction theme each month through 2020. For January the theme is Space Mountain – to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the attraction in Disney World. Other attractions that are going to be featured include Peter Pan, the Haunted Mansion, and the Jungle Cruise. A set of new collectible bowls are coming to be a vessel for your favorite pineapple treat! A selection of four different tiki bowls are available to choose from. Each bowl is $14 and includes your chose of Dole Whip at the Tropical Hideaway. Not only that, but if you collect them all, they can be stacked to look like a tiki totem pole. Yet more themed merchandise has come to the resort. The new “Park Life” series highlights different attraction icons along with classic Disney characters. This new lineup includes apparel, accessories, cups, dishes, toys, and more. A new drink and accompanying coaster has landed in Oga’s Cantina in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for the new year. The drink was supposed to be a limited time offering for New Years, but has remained available. The coaster features Maz (from The Force Awakens), and the Arubesh translation of the drink’s name. Last week, we discussed Baby Yoda merchandise finally making it to the resort. This week, another, more interesting variation of this fan favorite has appeared at the resort. “The Bounty” is a new alcoholic drink available at Trader Sam’s over at the Disneyland Hotel. The drink features a green-colored drink with two edible cherry “eyes” on a skewer, two lime wedges for “ears,” and a little napkin tie at the bottom to represent Baby Yoda’s outfit. Clarabelle’s over in Disney California Adventure is now offering a selection of hard floats. The hard floats include your choice of vanilla or chocolate ice cream bars submerged in hard root beer, hard orange soda, or Guiness beer. At long last Asian Street Eats has opened in Downtown Disney. The new eatery will feature Asian dishes that can be customized to suit your tastes. For example, you can pick up a mixed bowl with your choice of either grilled chicken, braised beef short rib, or sautéed tofu. The menu for Asian Street Eats looks delicious! Mixed bowls, scallion pancake wraps, and pot stickers are all available. The mixed bowls start out with your choice of grilled chicken, beef short rib or tofu, royal purple rice or mixed greens, and then are topped with fire roasted corn, cabbage, cucumbers, pickled carrots caramelized onions, and your choice of sauce.
