The Secret to Achieving What You Want This Year with Dr. Shannon Irvine

Who do you need to become to achieve that? Not what do you need to do - who must you be? How do you need to show up?
Viewing your goals through the lens of who you must become shifts everything.
When you do that, you allow your brain to work for you and not against you.
On this episode of the Epic Success Podcast, I talk all about your brain and how, in the context of goals, intentions are everything. I wanted to give you a lot of tangible examples. I share one of my 2019 goals that I achieved in half the time and a big priority 2020 goal and lay out how I am connecting my intentions to achievement.

“Your brain does not use your ‘intentions’ as any level of motivation, and in fact, sees it as a bit of a threat.”
Your subconscious is wired to keep you safe. When you set intentions, your brain can respond with fight or flight. So how do you flip your intentions so your brain accepts it as a roadmap to achievement? Brain based intentions are tied to becoming and create momentum. [6:00]
“How do we expect to get to where we want to go without focusing on the thing that actually drives it, which is our beliefs about our being and who we are becoming.”
Set your intentions on becoming goals instead of to-do goals. Instead, bring your becoming intentions to your to-do lists. At the end of the day, give yourself a score of how well you showed up as the person you’re intending to be. [10:57]
“I would take brain power every day over will-power.”
You can’t outperform your subconscious. Brain power comes from building the actual thoughts you want to have into your brain’s neural networks - which trains your brain to work for you and not against you. I share how I achieved a big 2019 goal by July. I stepped into being a person of impact well before hitting my multiple 7-figure goal. That’s the power of practicing brain intentions daily! [13:27]
