PButch joins us for the review of a Super Bowl matchup that (almost) went down to the wire. Patrick Mahomes, rusty in the first phase of the game, brought the Chiefs back from yet another deficit, winning MVP honors in the process.
Andy Reid sealed his legacy, leading KC to its first Super Bowl victory in 50 years.
It was a weird game -with the 49rs running game seeming unstoppable. Yet, why did Garappolo throw 31 times?
He was throwing to wide-open receivers, but he eventually wilted.
Pundits are blaming Kyle Shanahan for this loss. The offensive series at the end of the first half was puzzling with 20 seconds left and the Chiefs electing to run twice, then Garoppolo unleashing for two long passes (the last one a 42 yard bomb to Kittle who was called for offensive pass interference).
Although the 49rs pass rush ferocious it lost steam in the 4th quarter. Mahomes awoke late in the game to lead the Chiefs to 21 straight points within 5 minutes.
