Alabama Special Opportunity Areas (SOAs) deer/dove hunt registration begins August 19th 2019. SOAs are Alabama public hunt properties that are smaller than WMAs and are formatted for limited quota (random draw) hunting to reduce pressure and increase not only the quality of the hunt but also helps area biologist better manage the resource. During the 2019/20 Alabama hunting season, six SOAs offer limited number of slots for hunters (and guest) who are drawn to deer, dove, waterfowl, small game & turkey hunt. BDL talks to Portland Landing & Cedar Creek SOA (Dallas County) Area Biologist Justin Gilchrist about dates, registration process, available hunts, and answers a lot of questions hunters are asking about the SOA hunts. Justin tells us about the all new dove hunt at Portland Landing SOA on September 7th 2019. Be sure to stay tune after the interview for this weekends Lake Millers Ferry/Alabama River fishing report with Gettin' Outdoors Media Analyst Joe Allen Dunn.
