Building a Kinder World Through Education and Science with Jaclyn Lindsey and Melissa Burmester
When Jaclyn Lindsey and Melissa Burmester were at a crossroads in their career, they didn't know they would both meet at the intersection of kindness. After working as colleagues at charity:water, they both pursued to build a kinder world. Jaclyn personally experienced bullying, and it left a deep scar and painful memory. Now a mother, she longs to help shape a world where her child would be safe and treated with kindness. In this pursuit, both Jaclyn and Melissa couldn’t find solutions that were based on research and academia. Filling this gap turned into their nonprofit, Kindness.org.
The organization collaborates with academics, researchers, and volunteers to investigate the "causes and consequences of kindness". Their programs include "Learn Kind", where they bring kindness and social-emotional education to classroom and "Kindlab" which uses an "interdisciplinary mix of research in genetics, neuroscience, psychology, economics, and anthropology" to share learnings around the impact of kindness, to name a few.
