Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast 06: Composer Fil Eisler Interview
We are back with a brand new Geektown Behind The Scenes Podcast, and this week we are chatting with an old friend of Geektown, composer Fil Eisler.
For those of you that have missed the five times we previously interviewed Fil, he is the brilliant composer behind tv shows such as 'Empire', 'Revenge', 'UnREAL', and 'What/If', along with movies such as 'The Titan', 'CHIPS', Marti Noxon's 'To the Bone', and Melissa McCarthy/Ben Falcone films 'Life of the Party' and 'Superintelligence'.
Fil began his career as a touring musician, where he traveled, recorded and wrote with a multitude of artists, including Robbie Williams, with whom he has written a number of songs such as 'Superblind' and 'My F*ck You to You'. He also recently composed an original concerto performed by the brilliant violinist Sarah Chang, and worked with a group of fellow composers, including our old friend Nathan Barr, on 'Silent Films Live', adding original score to silent movies. As an advocate for gun control in the US, Fil has worked on various documentaries such as 'Newtown', about the aftermath of the mass shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School, and 'Us Kids', following the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
It has been a couple of years since we last caught up with Fil, so we had lots to chat about, and for the first time, I got to do it face-to-face in his studio in LA. Unfortunately, I also was getting over a sore throat at the time, so I apologise for the croakiness of my voice in this recording!
