I was honored to have Frank King join me via Zoom for this week's episode. Frank has been doing comedy longer than I have been alive, which is a sobering thought.
Frank has done just about everything there is to do in comedy. He has performed in shows for over 2,000 nights straight while on the road. He wrote for The Tonight Show for over 20 years. He has opened for just about every comedian you have ever heard of. He has done it all.
He is now known as The Mental Health Comedian. His current mission is to raise awareness of and to destroy the stigma surrounding mental health issues. He wants to start the conversation about suicide, so that we can all talk about it in a healthy, understanding way. He and Zara Kahn run a podcast called The Suicide Prevention Punchline (thesuicidepreventionpunchline.com), which is fantastic. Check it out.
You can find him online at thementalhealthcomedian.com. He is on the Instagrams at @mentalhealthcomedian.
You can reach him personally at 858.405.5653. Yes, that is his personal cell phone. Yes, he told me to give it out. Yes, you can call him anytime you are feeling down or just need someone to talk to. No, I don't think he can make it to your birthday party...but you can ask him.
