Before the Civil War the son of a wealthy judge, John Overton Jr. bought a plot of land in downtown Nashville and began building a lavish hotel. Then when the Union army rolled into town the unfinished hotel became a prison where captured Confederate soldiers were held. After the war the hotel was finished and was one of the premier places to stay in Nashville in the early 20th century. Unfortunately a deadly fire in 1961 destroyed the building.
Today the old hotel is home to a number of wayward spirits who never moved on. There are tales of a love triangle involving two Union soldiers and a woman that ended in tragedy. Come with us and discover the history and paranormal secrets of the Maxwell House Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.
