Ep70: Mel & Mia - COVID19 Birth Story, Multiple losses, Polyhydramnios, Doula, Posterior, Forceps Delivery, Re-admission to Hospital
In Episode 70 of Kiwi Birth Tales I speak with Mel about the birth of her daughter Mia. Mel takes us through two miscarriages before falling pregnant with Mia, anxiety that this caused and the decision to hire a birth doula to help ease some anxiety. Mel was diagnosed with polyhydramnios during her pregnancy which subsequently decreased by the time she was full term.
Mel talks us through finding out the country was in lockdown the day she went into labour, what precautions were taken at the hospital, her birth story in which Mia was posterior and required a forcep delivery and what happened during her after care in the hospital as a result of the lockdown.
Mel then talks through their re-admission to hospital after going home, having Nurses and Doctors wearing PPE gear and their standard of care, as well as what it has been like in their bubble since Mia was born.
Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with me Mel! I really appreciate you sharing with us all.
