Ep74: Deanna, Hunter & Lily - Young Mum, Gestational Diabetes, Ventouse Delivery, 2 Miscarriages, Antenatal Anxiety, Induction, Post Natal Depression
In episode 74 of Kiwi Birth Tales I speak with Deanna about her 2 birth stories. Deanna takes us through falling pregnant at 17, being diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes at 34 weeks and an eventual delivery with ventouse after a long labour. Hunter her son was diagnosed with sepsis 3 days after he was born and spent 10 days in intensive care before being released and Deanna talks through how that experience impacted her anxiety and confidence.
Deanna unfortunately suffered 2 miscarriages after the birth of Hunter which took a serious toll on her mental health and while awaiting results for unexplained miscarriages fell pregnant with daughter Lily without help. Deanna suffered from serious anxiety through out her pregnancy and talks through getting help for that as well as how she coped with Gestational Diabetes and other conditions through out the pregnancy.
Deanna went into labour at 34 and 4 and Lily was born not long after following an induction for inflammation markers. Lily was taken to the NICU as she was premature and made great steps forward eventually able to go home. Deanna suffered from Postnatal Depression after this pregnancy and talks through getting help for that.
Thanks so much for joining me and sharing your honest experiences Deanna!
