According to the American Psychological Association, most of what we intuitively believe and do to recover and recharge from work, sports, and life is actually detrimental to our performance. Rather than seeking out dopamine-driven pursuits such as junk food, social media, and video games, it is far more effective to engage in activities that release serotonin and oxytocin, such as meditation, exercise (unless you`re trying to recover from exercise ;), hanging out with friends, reading a good book, engaging in hobbies and other creative pursuits.
