James Harrison
During an interview on Willie Colon's Goin Deep Podcast James Harrison revealed that'd after his big hit on Mohamed Massaquoi Mike Tomlin "handed me an envelope" implying that he received some mitigation or reward for the hit that ultimately added $75,000 to the fines that started accumulating for him in 2010.
Social media blew up, surmising that the Steelers had their own bounty system, to which Art Rooney II, said, “I am very certain nothing like this ever happened. I have no idea why James would make a comment like this but there is simply no basis for believing anything like this.”
Harrison later denied that he was paid for hurting a player, but did walk back his claim that he received something from Tomlin.
He notably did not deny that the envelope helped offset his fine.
We take a deep dive into whether or not this is business as usual in the NFL and whether the interpretation of Deebo's comments are out of line.
