In 1960, Tolkien undertook a revision of The Hobbit that would have brought it into greater harmony with The Lord of the Rings, both in style and detail. However, the revision only got so far before Tolkien moved on to other things. On this episode, we’ll look at the significant revisions Tolkien made to The Hobbit Chapter 2, as well the direction he hoped to go in the rest of the book. We'll also discuss his reasons for abandoning the project.
