Season 1 Episode 36: Conversations on Conflict
In Episode 36 of the Staffroom Podcast, Chey and Pav recap the chat conversation that was hosted by Education Never DIes on Twitter a few days prior. They use the chat as a way to work a little deeper into the topic of what conflict truly is. Chey and Pav discuss the fact that conflict resolution among educators can only be attempted when the school culture and relationship building has occurred and a safe space has been set up. They also discuss the necessity of the sometimes difficult dialogue that needs to happen in order to be able to attempt to resolve conflicts. The culture of the conflict itself is also discussed. We don't want conflict to disappear - conflict is indeed necessary in order to help us grow as an organization. Differing perspectives help us to develop a greater sense of how we are attempting to reach our goals, or work towards our vision and mission statement.
Chey and Pav talk about how good leadership plays a big role in ensuring that all voices of of the staff are being heard when there are conflicts that need to be resolved, or problems that need solving.
