2. The One about the Pandemic with Rev. Jeremy Smith
Nothing like launching a podcast about the need for proximity while a pandemic is causing us to have to have to distance ourselves, but during this time there are unique ways to continue to “make space” for connection and community that could last longer than the outbreak itself.
This week I talk to Rev. Jeremy Smith. Jeremy is a pastor of a church in Seattle near one of the areas that the CDC has deemed a "hot spot." He and his team had to figure out how to cultivate community during "social distancing" way before the rest of us knew what those two words meant together. Our conversation covers how to ensure you are creating circles of connection, and why that connection is so important even if you aren't a a "church" type human. To learn more about Jeremy, check out his longtime blog Hacking Christianity (HackingChristianity.net), which weaves together weird combinations of faith, technology, geek culture, and United Methodist commentary. I hope you are inspired to maintain social connection even from a distance!
Our introduction music is “it can be done” by Airae via epidemic sound.
