This week on #TubtaNabadda, we look into how the government of Somalia, with support from and in coordination with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), is responding to the COVID-19 crisis as it affects disproportionately internally displaced people (IDPs).
We interview Amina Said, Commissioner of National Commission for Refugees and IDPs (NCRI), about what is being done to prevent the spread of the virus in displaced communities, and how the agency works in coordination with international partners to support these communities.
We also interview Guelnoudji Ndjekounkosse, UNHCR Somalia Senior Protection Officer, about the main protection concerns in relation to COVID-19 and forced displacement in Somalia, and his Organization’s support to the government-led response to the crisis.
In the studio, your hosts are Ali Gutale and Fathi Mohamed Ahmed, joined by Fansan Band with a song on how good hygiene can prevent the spread of COVID-19.
